mastodon in the aqua teen hunger force movie [12 Sep 2006|05:35pm]

_antilovesong_
that's cool

"It's the opening song, and we're going to be animated as movie snacks," in the style of the animated musical advertisements that played before the beginning of the main attraction decades ago, Dailor said. "It's the 'Let's all go to the lobby' song, but it's a thrash song."

"And when the movie starts," Hinds interrupted, "the Hershey bar breaks out of his wrapper and plays a Flying V, he does a ripping guitar solo. And Bränn sings like King Diamond. The popcorn guy's walking, and when it breaks into the heavy metal, he starts bashing his head around. Popcorn kernels are going everywhere. The hot dog's mustard is splashing all over the place. The large coke is on the drums, and it's spilling out everywhere.

"This is probably our crowning achievement as a band," he concluded.

Intro posts suck. But basically...

I was at a Psyopus show once...and Chris persuaded me into buying a Lethargy CD (Discography) but I left it in Buffalo when I moved, so while I was downloading it (to be fair, I DID buy it first), I stumbled upon "It's Hard To Write" and I just cannot get enough of this band.

So, my question is...which Mastodon album would you guys recommend for me to grab first? I'm living on a meager budget, so I'd appreciate any guidance into Mastodonville.

I'm really tired right now, but you get my drift.

Thank you!

New Mastodon sleighted for Feb 7th.

Looks like they're going to call it "the call of the mastodon" after that nifty demo track.

it could be a DVD, but I sincerely hope not.

Hey, I'm new.

I just recently discovered Mastodon about a month ago or so. I saw them on some show on Fuse, and were really cool. Then they showed the "Blood & Thunder" video, and I was amazed. I had heard a few songs by them before that.

I am the lucky person that sir_swift was refering too. I saw them at Ozzfest, and I must say, they raped the second stage. The only band on the second stage that had a better crowd response was Rob Zombie.

Although my favorite bands are Slayer, Stormtroopers of Death, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Rage Against the Machine, Mastodon is pretty fucking high up there. They kick total ass! I hope they play some other shows around here sometime soon.

There's my introduction.

'Since no ones updated yet.

I'd like to say my friend is a lucky bastard, because he went to ozzfest and got to see Mastodon, and then got his cd booklet signed by the guys.

Lucky lucky lucky.

I don't normally post intro posts ... but seeing how there's a decent gap from the last post, I thought I'd give everyone something new to look at.

I just recently picked up "Remission" and "Leviathan" from my local music store, and I must say, it's been driven' into my head.

So amazingly addicting.

But ya, Mastodon is awesome, so I joined.

As clearly demonstrated by the lack of activity in a long while, this community desperately needs stimulation... at least that's my view. Errr... this is either because of the lack of news, or the lack of motivation. I'm guessing it's a lack of news. But, this community doesn't merely have to be about news, and just general information...discussions are generally gratifying, as well.

So, to honor this, here's something to discuss:

If there are any other bands that compare to Mastodon, who and what are they?
Take note, I am not saying in any way that Mastodon is the best band out there, I'm saying they're above average. I would simply like to know the opinions and tastes of some fellow masto-heads out there, and I am way too lazy to go and search for some.

I'm not talking about just technicality, either. What bands do you people listen to that don't pale in comparison to the great mammoth? Are their lyrics better? Are they more original? Do they simply rock harder?

And to further that, what (besides the obvious...) makes them so good (musically speaking)?

Hopefully, this will spawn at least a large comment string...I hope it does.

Clutch's Robot Hive/Exodus comes out on June 21st, go BUY IT!
